LLSA is a SADC-based Non-Profit Organisation, first established in Cape Town in 1968. It has 19 affiliated Community Centres spread throughout South Africa, Botswana and Namibia, governed by an Executive Board and administered by a Secretariat.

The Organisation elects the Audit and Governance Committee, to assist the Board in carrying out its financial and fiduciary responsibilities.

The Standards Setting Body is elected to help create and maintain standards within the Organisation. An important element of their work has been the establishing of Affiliation Standards, and making sure that every LifeLine Centre complies with all the standards and requirements the Organisation has set up,this ensures a high level of service throughout LifeLine Southern Africa.

Each of the affiliated Centres also have their own governance structures, with elected Boards and Constitutions.
