Recognising abuse
If you are having trouble defining what abuse actually is, don’t worry because recognising abuse can sometimes be very difficult and confusing!
Recognising abuse can be especially difficult for someone who has been living with it for many years. A person might think that this is the normal way of living, and that nothing can be done about it. They also might make the mistake of thinking that they are the cause of the abuse, and they are bringing it upon themselves.
Understanding the Cycle of Violence

It is important to remember that abuse can take many different forms, and not all abusive relationships fit the cycle. Often, as time goes on the ‘making up’ and ‘calm’ stages disappear.
