There are many different organisations and projects that deal with gender inequalities. We have come to the understanding that no solution will work unless both genders are involved. It is only when both men and women fully understand their rights and responsibilities that society can be successful in dealing with all the challenges that it faces, including the HIV and AIDS pandemic, poverty, crime and violence.
LifeLine Centres provide the following services to people affected by gender-based violence:
- Anonymous and confidential telephone counselling at Centre level
- Confidential face-to-face counselling for individuals and couples.
- Rape Counselling and support services.
- Awareness raising and educational programmes.
We offer rape crisis and support programmes, working in partnership with Government hospitals and community clinics.
Community programmes have also been formed which focus on “Youth at High Risk” especially young female commercial sex workers. This includes education and empowerment in terms of gender legislation and children’s rights.
